About us

Having previously owned the former riverside restaurant for 11 years which had an old world atmosphere Lee and Debbie purchased the derelict, former agricultural iron mongers in 2003 and completely renovated it into a modern restaurant and cafe bar.

They thought it would be a fresh idea for cockermouth to introduce a wine / tapas bar on the ground floor to compliment the restaurant on the first floor which is ideal for larger parties of up to 55 covers. Because the tables are well spaced out it makes it an ideal venue for a small intimate dinner or a business meeting.

The varied a la carte menu of british and continental dishes to include beef, chicken, pork, duck, lamb, ham, fish and vegetarian is prepared on the premises by lee and his team. The front of house is headed by Debbie to ensure a personal service at all times.

On the ground floor we are open from 10.30am - 2.00pm we serve everything from speciality coffee, tea, a selection of cakes and scones through to delicious sandwiches, light bites, full lunches or tapas. Our Takeaway coffees, sandwiches and chips are available at lunchtimes.

The wine bar is open in the evenings from 6.30pm for coffee, a glass of wine or beer through to champagne from a large wine and beer selection which could be accompanied by a dish or two of tapas.
